Well it’s finally here. The easy-to-use jailbreak solution “QuickPwn” is now available for Mac OS X. To use QuickPwn, you must be on the 2.0.2 firmware, and it supports all devices. More information and download link inside.
The iPhone Dev-Team’s blog says this:
The Mac version of QuickPwn Tool will work on iPhone running firmware 2.0.2 and has a user interface similar to the Pwnage Tool. The Windows version of the QuickPwn Tool was recently updated to work on iPhone running any iPhone firmware 2.x (2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2). QuickPwn GUI Updated! QuickPwn will allow you to jailbreak your 2.0/2.0.1/2.0.2 iPhone very easily, without needing to do a restore or custom firmware installation. Watch my full video tutorial here if you haven’t seen it already. Anyways, the Dev Team released a “150” beta update to QuickPwn.
“Here is the long awaited “QuickPwn†for Mac OS X. You’ll see a similarity to the user-interface of PwnageTool, this is because of the great feedback we’ve had since we moved to that interface with PwnageTool 2.x.Â
Turn it on then plugged it your pc/mac and open your itunes, then restore (press shift(win)/option(mac) + click restore) it using your custom firmware made by pwnage 3.1 either from download or using 3.0.1 or 3.0 firmware for downgrade. It will take a while but it will proceed. Only Apple users using Safari 4 or later on Mac OSX 10.6 or later will be able to watch the live stream. Apple TV users will also be able to view the WWDC 2013 live stream from their Apple TV. If you don't have Apple products, you'll need to wait until the conference ends to watch a video of the WWDC 2013 event.
QuickPwn is not a replacement for PwnageTool, they are different tools and provide different features, QuickPwn is for quickly pwning a device, whereas PwnageTool is designed to custom build and tailor the ipsw production process, both tools will be actively developed in the future.
To use QuickPwn 1.0 Mac OS X your device should be running 2.0.2, if it isn’t then you can upgrade it to 2.0.2 using iTunes and then use the QuickPwn tool, we repeat, it’ll only work on version 2.0.2 of the iPhone or iPod touch firmware.Â
If you don’t want specific things to happen such as baseband updates then PwnageTool should be used to create a custom .ipsw with your specifics.”
For now, downloading is only available via torrent, due to the usual overload on their servers, resulting in slow donwnload times. If you do not want to download it via torrent, the blog says to wait 12 hours, and they will put it on their servers. I’ll probably download the .tbz file and upload it those who are not comfortable with torrents. But for those who are, here is the link to the torrent file. To download it, you will need a torrent program.
If you want to download it without torrents, wait a bit and I’ll upload it.
*Update*Â Here is the download link via MediaFire I uploaded. Hope you enjoy!Â

Well, the folks of the iPhone DevTeam have done it again. Just 1 day after the new iPhone firmware is out, the iPhone DevTeam have their new release out. Pwnage Tool and QuickPwn 2.2.5 are Jailbreak solutions for the new 2.2.1 iPhone firmware.
So, is it safe? Here’s what you should know:
1st gen iPhone owners have no worries. Create your custom firmware and restore, via iTunes, or just update in iTunes and run QuickPwn.
1st gen iPod Touch users: same as above.
iPhone 3G users: the new firmware contains a baseband update, rendering yellowsn0w useless. Until there is an update to yellowsn0w, you will need to use the PwnageTool to create a custom firmware, downgrading the baseband, and then restore in iTunes. Then you will be able to unlock with yellowsn0w 0.9.7, via Cydia.
2nd gen iPod Touch users: sorry, you’re outta luck. Still no Jailbreak for this device.

There’s a couple of other things to note:

Mac OS X 10.5.6 has a bug which affects putting your device in DFU mode. There are a few hacks out there fixing this, but this is what the DevTeam has suggested:
- You will need an account with ADC (Apple Developer Connection) this is free and takes a few minutes to sign up, you should read the terms and conditions carefully and you should only sign up if you are thinking of developing applications in the future – http://developer.apple.com/mac/
- Download the disk image “IOUSBFamily Log release for Mac OS X 10.5.5 Build 9F33” (yes, that is a “5” in 10.5.5 – this is a developer debug package of the USB kernel extension).
- Install IOUSBFamily-315.4.1.pkg from within the disk image
- Reboot your system!
There have also been updates to some of our favourite apps in Cydia, to make them compatible with the new firmware. The ones I have noticed are Qik, Notifier, and Mobileinstallation Patch, but there will be others. Just open Cydia, and it will automatically tell what upgrades are available for you.
